Multi-media campaign begins
Rural Industries Minister Pongalur N. Palanisamy tries out a farming implement at the multi-media exhibition he inaugurated in the city.A multi-media campaign to explain the government schemes and achievements to the people has commenced in the district and would go on till February 23, a release from S. Kannadasan, Public Relations Officer said.
The inaugural function was presided by S. Prabhakaran, District Revenue Officer at Kanuvai Panchayat Union Middle School and the campaign was inaugurated by Rural Industries Minister, Pongalur N Palanisamy.The multi-media campaign has the participation of the following departments; Information and Public Relations, Health, Forest, Fire and Rescue Services, Sericulture, District Industries Centre, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, Co-operation, Animal Husbandry, School Education, Small Savings, Backward Classes, Social Welfare, Tourism, Mahalir Thittam, Town Panchayats having stalls.
The Minister wanted the campaign to create awareness among the people especially the rural masses on the various schemes and projects of the Government so that the benefits of the schemes and reached the target beneficiaries.He exhorted the coconut growers in the district to make use of the subsidy available for drip irrigation schemes.
