Training in first aid for traffic police
In an effort to ensure basic medical aid during the “golden hour” and careful handling of accident victims prior to trauma care, the State Police had issued instructions for imparting training in first aid to the traffic police personnel. The Chief Minister had recently instructed the police to initiate all steps required to make the State accident free.City Police Commissioner C.K. Gandhirajan said that a team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), S. Manoharan finalised the modalities for the training programme that began on Monday.
Mr. Gandhirajan and Mr. Manoharan said that in the event of an accident, even when the public and passers by hesitate to attend to the victim, the first person to reach a scene of occurrence would be the police.Moreover, traffic police personnel are seen on all almost all the roads. Handling of accident victims required expertise and training so that the injury or pain for the victim was not aggravated due to mishandling of the victims.Now, the police are organising the training programme for the 370 police personnel and the three-day training programme would be conducted in different batches.
