Vidyalaya Foundation Day
The purpose of education stands fully achieved only when a person becomes a complete human being and she contributes for the uplift of the poor and the nation’s progress, said Shivaraj V. Patil, Member of the National Human Rights Commission. He was delivering the T.S. Avanashilingam Memorial Endowment Lecture at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya to mark the Vidyalaya Foundation Day and Alumini Association meeting. He said teachers should impart education for creating a good society for the future.
Considering the time spent by a student with his teacher, he said that the teachers’ character and conduct should be worth emulating.“A mother should give education, father should give protection, teacher/guru should give education and direction,” he said. Defining human rights, Mr. Patil said: “Treat others the way you would like to be treated by them.”He said the Constitution was considered to the best since it ensured almost all fundamental rights for its citizens. Implementation of the rights enshrined in the Constitution would certainly make a good society. Swami Athmaramananda, secretary of the Mission Vidyalayas, S.Alagesan, principal of the Maruthi College of Physical Education among others attended. A newsletter of the Alumni Association was released at the function.
