e-governance in LPA

The administration is embarking on a mission to introduce e-governance in Local Planning Authority (LPA) in an effort to make procedures easier for the public and to bring in accountability and transparency. With the help of Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC), the area maps of Coimbatore were being digitised so that the public could access them at the click of a mouse.
Website is under creation and would be hosted shortly
The District Collector, Neeraj Mittal (Chairman of the LPA) and G. Manickavasagam Pillai, Joint Director of LPA, initiated the process for e-governance. The website is under creation and would be hosted shortly. The e-governance would be for the entire local planning area i.e., Coimbatore core city and peripheral local bodies.People intending to buy lands could just know the nature of land-use pattern by visiting the website and by punching in the survey number before investing money in the land. The website would have details of the nature of land-use classification for the survey number.
It would also have detailed development plans for every pocket so that the investor/buyer could get to know whether his/her land would face implications such as possibilities of acquisition for scheme roads and link roads. With this, investors could be completely relieved of the problem of investing in a land that had implications of acquisition or in a land which was classified for other purposes.Similarly, the public could also protect themselves from getting cheated by investing in lands that were originally assigned as reserve sites for public utility purposes.
