Nearly 35 colleges from in and around Coimbatore have made their presence felt at the third edition of the “Visit Educational Expo 2008” that began on Friday at the Rajasthani Sangh. Jointly organised by UTV Universal and Outreach, an event management company, the expo has more than 60 stalls where students and parents are given counselling as to the various kinds of courses the colleges offer.

In addition to the engineering and arts and science colleges, there are also business schools, tuition centres, an air hostess training institute, and animation training centres, which have stalls at the expo. For those looking to pursue higher studies, there are the local universities – Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Anna University and Avinashiligam University for Women, where they can get an idea of the latest courses they can pick based on their undergraduate degree.

Counselling seminars are being held continuously, an hour for each subject. Subject experts from the colleges are there to explain what each subject entails, its pros and cons and job prospects. J. Adhavraj, Managing Partner of Outreach, says, “Every year students have to go from college to college to get to know the course and fee details. This expo has brought representatives of many colleges under one roof so that students can prepare themselves with the required information. Once the results are out they can straight away go for admission without wasting any time.” Along with many college and course brochures, students get a free career guide containing the location and phone numbers of colleges.
