Employment Opportunities for the Disabled - Seminar
“Social workers should stress the implementation of three per cent reservation in job opportunities for the disabled,” Subramania Siva, Vice-President, UDIS Forum, said here recently. Addressing a seminar on “Employment Opportunities for the Disabled” organised by Abhayam Family Counselling Centre at Sri Gee College of Arts and Science, he said there was a need to identify job opportunities for the disabled.Forum appointed field workers for identifying new jobs and convincing companies and institutions to employ the disabled
Though the changing trends in the competitive world had decreased the job opportunities for the disabled, various organisations had come forward to employ them, G. Sekhar, Principal of Sri Gee College of Arts and Science, said. S. Sekharan, Project Co-ordinator, UDIS Forum, said the forum appointed field workers for identifying new jobs and convincing companies and institutions to employ the disabled. He also spoke about new centres for vocational training that had been opened in semi-urban areas. Students of social work from various colleges attended the seminar.
