The Coimbatore City Police have arrested two women on charges of waylaying and robbing a woman of Rs. 21,500 cash at Sai Baba Colony here at knife point in broad day light.It is learnt that Krishnaveni (41), wife of Nagaraj of Brindavan Nagar in Kavundampalayam, was on her way to a jewellery shop with the money.

At Ramalingam Colony in Sai Baba Colony, two women approached her seeking guidance for an address. When Krishnaveni tried to look at the address slip, the duo threatened her at knife point and decamped with the cash.When she raised an alarm, people gathered and the police visited the spot.The women were secured on suspicion from a nearby area and the cash and knife were recovered from them. Inquiries revealed that the duo were P. Janu (23) of Melur road in Madurai and Sowmiya alias Samia Parveen (21) of Tiruchi. Janu was said to be a college student who was staying at Periyanaickenpalayam and Samia worked as an executive in a firm at R.S. Puram.The duo have been arrested and investigations are on.
