Kongunadu Arts Collage Day

Director of Collegiate Education Nalini Ravindran addressing students of Kongunadu Arts and Science College in Coimbatore. One of the important ingredients for achieving former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2020 is the evolution of creative leaders. Higher the proportion of creative leaders, the higher the potential of India becoming a developed nation, Director of Collegiate Education Nalini Ravindran said here on Saturday.

Delivering the college day address at the Kongunadu Arts and Science College, she said: “The five capacities as listed out Mr. Kalam should be achieved by students during the process of education. They are the capacities for enquiry, creativity, technology, entrepreneurial and moral leadership. Those who possess these, will work together to transform the nation into a developed one in a time-bound manner.”She said education should develop both the intellect and physical ability. “Ample opportunities are provided for you through forums such as associations, clubs, competitions, workshops, NCC and department of physical education. Make use of these.

True education should develop emotional maturity. She urged the students to get rid of negative emotions such as hatred and enmity and foster positive emotions to overcome stress and related problems.Ms. Ravindran also urged them to concentrate on developing an aesthetic sense and socially desirable values to make them successful team leaders. She lamented that today’s world had tall buildings, but short tempers; multiplied possessions, but reduced values, people have been to the moon and back, but do not have time to cross the road and meet a new neighbour, and last but not the least, have conquered outer space, but not inner space.Secretary and Director of the college M. Aruchami and Principal A.A. Sivakumar spoke.
