LPA Working Closely For City Infra Devlopement

Local Planning Authority, Coimbatore, is working closely with a number of local bodies for laying a ring road, six link roads and close to 200 link roads and scheme roads in a bid to decongest the arterial roads of Coimbatore City. As part of the measures to decongest the city roads, the district administration and the local planning authority embarked on a proposal to create ring roads so as to make the outbound traffic, especially heavy vehicles and trucks, bypass the city.
In addition, the authorities are also speeding up proposals for laying four link roads within the city and two outside Corporation limits, for connecting major arterial roads, Collector Neeraj Mittal and Joint Director of Local Planning Authority, G. Manickavasagam Pillai said. According to the approved Master Plan, one part of the ring road has already come in the form of the bypass road on NH 47 connecting Neelambur Junction with Palakkad Road, cutting across Tiruchi Road and Pollachi Road, bypassing the city.

The second plan is for laying a road connecting Neelambur Junction with Mettuppalayam Road near Periyanaickenpalayam which was under National Road Development Authority survey.The Western Ring Road plan III was for a road from Thudialur to Palakkad Road cutting across Thadagam Road, Marudhamalai Road, Thondamuthur, Siruvani Road and joining the Palakkad Road.The road width would range from 60 ft to 100 ft.
