Anti-encroachment Drive In Coimbatore

A roadside eatery being removed as part of an anti-encroachment drive in the city on Wednesday. The Coimbatore Corporation removed on Wednesday some shops on Arts College Road, saying that these were unauthorised and impeded movement of traffic and pedestrians. Officials in the Corporation said that this was similar to the action that was carried out on the Head Post Office Road near the District Collector’s office.

A row of wooden structures that made for stalls in which documents were sold or typed out were removed in a drive near the Collectorate.

Similar structures were removed on Wednesday on Arts College Road, the Corporation said. The civic body removed these under security provided by the city police. The small wooden stalls were loaded on to the Corporation’s lorries and taken away. Structures before other shops that hampered pedestrian movement were also removed.
