Ban Sale Of Gold In Commodity Trading
The goldsmiths association of Coimbatore has appealed to the Government to ban commodity trading of gold and silver and sale of 24 carat coins and bars in banks. The association said in a release that Coimbatore had about 2.5 lakh goldsmiths and nearly 2,500 small and medium jewellery shops.

The prices of gold and silver were fluctuating in the range of Rs. 100 to Rs. 150 a gram. With increasing prices jewellery sales had dropped and this led to loss in business and employment.
