As many as 20 head constables serving in Coimbatore, Erode and the Nilgiris districts coming under the Coimbatore Range have been promoted as Sub-Inspectors of Police based on their service seniority. A release from Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural District, G. Karthikeyan said that the DIG of Police, Coimbatore Range, Seema Agrawal, had issued orders promoting six constables from the Nilgiris, seven each from Coimbatore and Erode districts. Of the promoted police personnel, five from Coimbatore have been posted to the Nilgiris while two to Erode district and the remaining posted in vacant positions in the same district.
