300 TMMK Workers Arrested
About 300 Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhakam workers were arrested today, when they attempted to stage a demonstration in front of the Government Hospital, blaming 'negligence of doctors and staff while treating patients, leading to their death. They cited a recent incident of death of 3-year old baby, who met with an accident, to prove their point, police said. As the police denied permission for demonstration or taking out procession, the workers were arrested.
Meanwhile, the doctors, medical students and staff in the hospital boycotted work today, seeking protection from the public. The doctors alleged that they were not allowed to work properly or treat patients, as 'outsiders' rather than the relatives of patients, entered the restricted area and "dictated terms" with the staff and doctors.
