Serious Powercut

Expressing serious concern over the 'resumption' of power cut, despite good generation of wind power, small industries in the region have appealed the State government to initiate steps to avoid "frequent" power cuts. The power cut or load shedding has resumed from last week, ranging from four hours to six hours, and more in the industrial belts, which has put the industrialists into lot of hardship, Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) said in a release here.

'We do not realise the rationale behind the power cut, when adequate power is being generated by windmill in the district,' CODISSIA president, I Elango said. The industries experienced load shedding two hours in the mornings and one-and-a-half hour in the evenings in phased manner daily, putting production schedules into disarray, he said.Senior officials in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board were not available for comment.
