Special Camp For Property Tax Collection

Members of a residential colony hand over property tax to Coimbatore Corporation South Zone Chairman P. Pynthamil (second left) and Corporation officials at a special camp at the zone office on Thursday. The South Zone office of the Coimbatore Corporation conducted on Thursday a special camp for enabling people to pay property tax. The Corporation is already conducting an all-services-at-one-spot programme titled Makkalai Thedi (Going to the People). While this programme that is held from morning till afternoon provides various services, the South Zone office is held a similar camp for property tax payers.

This involves camps for a layout or groups in a ward. The zone has 18 wards under its control. At the camp started by the zone chairman P. Pynthamil, residents from Salamath Nagar in Ward 12 paid Rs.5.38 lakh as property tax for 55 houses. Mr. Pynthamil said ward councillor K. Ashok Kumar spoke to residential associations to convince the people to pay the tax as it was needed to fund development works. “It will be good if all the councillors speak to residential associations and convince the people on the need to pay taxes promptly as development works in their areas depended on tax revenue.”
