Technical Meet By KNITcMA
Textiles Committee and the Knit Cloth Manufacturers’ Association (KNITcMA) will organise a network meet on technical textiles on June 18 in Tirupur. According to G. Venugopal, Cluster Development Executive of the committee, a group of knitwear entrepreneurs in Tirupur went to Atlanta in 2006 to explore opportunities in technical textiles. The visit was organised by the committee under its cluster development programme for the knitwear sector in Tirupur and the association to encourage value addition in the knitwear sector. Subsequently, the KNITcMA formed a guidance cell and had been organising meetings on new products and potential investors. A consulting firm representing consortia of European manufacturers had been formed to help the knitwear manufacturers know the business opportunities in areas such as industrial, sports and medical textiles.
