Case Registered :
The Thudiyalur police have registered case against 40 Hindu Front activists in connection with the hurling of soda bottles at cine director Seeman on Sunday night. Irked over the alleged remarks by the director on Hindu mythology, the activists involved in such act causing commotion at a public function. The police registered case for unlawful assembly, causing grievous hurt, attempt to murder and criminal intimidation against the activists.Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party and Hindu Front activists thronged the Thudiyalur Police Station seeking registration of case against Mr. Seeman for making remarks hurting the religious sentiments.
Buses 2 Court :
Two buses were attached and brought to the District Sessions court complex on Friday following the failure of the State Transport Corporation and State Express Transport Corporation to settle the motor vehicle accident claims to the family members of the victims. The total number of buses attached so far had risen to five.
Escape Man Held :
The police personnel on security duty at a convict ward in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Monday foiled an attempt to escape by Murugan (30), an undertrial.Murugan was arrested by the police recently in connection with the rape and murder of a girl and her mother at a poultry unit in Anaimalai, near Pollachi, recently.
He was admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a DNA test. On Monday afternoon, the undertrial tried to gave slip from the hospital room. The police personnel nabbed him within a few minutes.
Man held :
The Race Course Police Inspector, Senthilkumar, and his team on Monday arrested a 60-year-old Mohideen Pitchai of Dindigul on charges of re-using used court fee stamps. Following a complaint from Stamp Vendor Association, the police found Mohideen Pitchai resorting to collection of used court fee stamps, cleaning them and selling it once again. A total number of 15,300 used court fee stamps valued at Rs. 41,400 were recovered from him.
Fire in poultry unit :
A head load worker was killed when a fire broke out in a poultry feed unit at Varadarajapuram in Udumalpet on Monday. The fire broke out in the afternoon spread to a nearby fuel tank fuelling the flames further. Fire and Rescue Services personnel fought for nearly four hours to put out the fire.
Girls rescued :
The Police on Monday rescued Ramya (6) and Monica (4) of Thittakudi when they were found roaming around the Railway Station. After inquiries, steps were taken to inform the parents and the children were lodged at an orphanage.
