ELGI Launched EBS

ELGI Equipments has launched an initiative called the Elgi Business System (EBS) to train senior executives. Based on the principle of total quality management (TQM), it will help Elgi integrate various functional systems it has launched in the past, said EEL’s managing director Dr Jairam Varadaraj. He expects the initiative to give the company a cutting edge in terms of efficient and effective business processes that will serve as a foundation for its global expansion plans.

“EBS is part of our ambitious growth plan to gain a global foot print,” pointed out Mr Varadaraj, adding it has plans for setting up a plant in Brazil within the next two years. He said, “We will be starting our sales and marketing operations in Brazil by this year-end.” He further said that their factory at Jiaxing in China is nearing completion and it will have all the best practices implemented from its inception.

Talking about the new initiative, EEL’s director — operations, K Sreenivasa Rao said the company has been working on various functional systems including the Elgi Manufacturing Systems (EMS), which is implemented in 10 out of its 15 manufacturing lines in their production units located in Singanallur and Kurichi. General manager (EBS), Mathew Kurian said that in order to create and sustain the EBS, a workshop was organised for the 72 members of the senior management team drawn from various departments last week in Coimbatore. World renowned TQM guru Dr Noriaki Kano of Japan trained them.
