Lane Marking Started In Avanashi Road

Airport to Hope College heading towards road discipline. The State Highways Department has begun painting lane marks on Avanashi Road that had been taken up for widening. To begin with the Airport Junction to Hope College has been taken up for the work. Divisional Engineer of State Highways K. Vellingiri told The Hindu that 15.6 km of Avanashi Road from Avanashi Road Flyover to Neelambur Bypass Road was being widened into a six lane road at an outlay of Rs. 27 crore.


Two stretches of the total five had been completed and the remaining three would be completed by November this year. By November, the works for widening and reconstructing 13 minor and major bridges would be over.On a trial basis, three lanes will be marked for smooth flow of traffic. The marking of three lanes are being done in a particular stretch with the available funds.The department had sought Rs. 97 lakh for the remaining stretch.



In the wake of the Supreme Court orders prohibiting advertisements/banners, bill boards on the road, the original idea of constructing road median with the help of advertisement sponsors has been reversed now. A proposal has been sent to the Government seeking funds for road median and the work will begin shortly and completed along with the entire project.
