Holiday for Passport Office :
The Coimbatore Passport Office will remain closed on October 1 for Ramzan and October 2 for Gandhi Jayanthi, according to a release from the passport officer B. Balamurugan.
Office-bearers elected :
The Coimbatore Region General Insurance Employee’s Association has elected the following as its office-bearers.
A. Ganesh Shanker - District President, S. Sekkilar, S. Jayakumar, Aruna B. Shenoy – Vice-Presidents.
B. Suresh was elected as District Secretary.
N. Govindaraj, N. Satheesh Kumar and R. Venugopal were elected as district treasurers.
Ban on meat sales:
Corporation Commissioner V.K. Shanmugam has announced slaughter of cows, goats, pigs and poultry birds and sale of meat is banned for one day on October 2 in view of Gandhi Jayanthi. Meat stalls within the City should remain closed on that day. Corporation slaughter houses at Ukkadam, Singanallur and Sathyamangalam Road would remain closed. Those violating the orders and indulging in slaughter and sale of meat will be dealt with firmly.
Durga puja:
Uttar Pradesh Janhit Sewa Sansthan will celebrate Durga puja from September 30 to October 9 at Shastri Ground, R.S.Puram in Coimbatore district.
