You should choose a company where you can gain knowledge, learn the job, work ethics and also have an opportunity to grow in the face of challenges, B. Soundararajan, Managing Director, Suguna Poultry Farm Limited, said here on Thursday.

Delivering the graduation address at the PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, he urged the graduates to use the first five years after the graduation as a learning process. “With economic liberalisation, the market is open to everyone. Hence, the right choice is in the hands of the individual,” he said.

Speaking on the market trend, Mr. Soundararajan said the opportunities for entrepreneurial ventures were very high as compared to earlier times. There was a time when only the affluent and influential could become entrepreneurs; but now it was not so. With the right attitude, execution and ethics anybody could excel as an entrepreneur, he asserted. He exhorted them to have short-term goals in addition to long-term goals. “You should set benchmarks every five years so that you can take off from there to the next level of benchmarking,” Mr. Soundararajan said.

Though technology was essential in today’s context, he reminded the graduates that the basic requirements of people would continue to be food, clothing and shelter. “Eighty per cent of a person’s salary goes towards fulfilling these needs. Hence, any entrepreneurial venture should be aimed with this factor in mind,” he said. He distributed degree certificates to more than 700 candidates out of which 40 were rank holders. R. Nandini, Secretary of the college spoke, and N. Yesodha Devi, principal, administered the oath.
