Kumki Elephants For Patrolling
To step up vigil in the 958-sq km Anaimalai Tiger Reserve area, the Forest Department has deployed kumki elephants for patrolling the areas vulnerable to poaching.Field Director of the Anaimalai Tiger ReserveH.D. Basuvaraju said the Forest Department has 19 kumki elephants at its Kozhikamudhi camp in Top Slip. The elephants were used for removing timber and other operations.
