Aircel Introduces Online Bill Payment Portal for Tamil Nadu Customers

After a long wait Aircel Cellular Recently introduces Online Bill Payment portel for its tamil nadu circle customers. This may be good news for Aircel Customers but it is the last operater in TamilNadu circle which introduces such fecilities. But Already its competators are introduced this fecilities much early.

Aircel, commenced operations in 1999 with Tamil Nadu Circle, founded by NRI Sivashankaran. After he sold it to Malaysian telecom major Maxis Communications Berhad and Apollo Hospital Enterprise Ltd of India (at an enterprise valuation of $1.1 billion) in Dec 2005, Now Maxis Communications holding a majority stake of 74%.

Now Aircel is India’s seventh largest GSM mobile service provider with a subscriber base of over 13 million (over 6 million in Chennai & Tamil Nadu alone) and the one of the fastest growing mobile operator in the country.

It has a market share of 5.48% among the GSM operators in the country. As on date, Aircel is present in 10 telecom circles (Assam, Bihar, Chennai, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Calcutta, North East, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal). And recently secured licences for the remaining 13 of the 23 telecom circles in india. which has over 6,000 base stations and aims to have revenues to the tune of $1-billion club this year, is expected to be a pan-India player by mid-2009.
