Diplomo Student Admitted In Hospital

A College student, who was allegedly stripped and inflicted injuries at the college hostel, was admitted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) here on Friday. Police sources said Sanjay (16), son of Srinivasan, was a native of Wayanad in the north of Kerala. He was pursuing his first year diploma in Tools and Dyeing at a private polytechnic college at Sangothipalayam, near Arasur.

In a complaint, Sanjay said he was ragged by four senior students on Wednesday. They stripped him and inflicted injuries on him with a blade. On Thursday, he got admitted to CMCH, where he was still undergoing treatment. Doctors said there were multiple aberrations, suspected to be caused by a blade, on the boy’s chest and abdomen. Police have booked four students — Mohammed Shafi, Haneesh, Mohan and Nandakumar — and were investigating. Sulur inspector Thirumeni said: “We are getting conflicting statements and, hence, we have to conduct a thorough probe to make sure that it was a case of ragging.”
