Hindu Young World Quiz On Oct 19th
The annual quiz contest by The Hindu Young World is back in its ninth edition, and will be rolled out on October 15 from Chennai, to the All India Final in Visakhapatnam on November 13. The annual quiz attracts talented young minds from all over the country. It will be conducted at 13 centres with questions from epics, history, films, music, and science. In Coimbatore, the competition will be held on October 19 at CIT Auditorium, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Avanashi Road.
This year, the contest is open for students from Standard VI to Standard IX. Any two students from the same school can form a team and each school can send in a maximum of three teams, using the ‘entry cards’ sent to them. The Hindu will meet the cost of the travel, boarding, and lodging of the teams and for one accompanying parent or teacher from the other centres for the national semi-finals and finals in Visakhapatnam.
Quizmaster V.V. Ramanan will host the show. The regional winners will bag Rs. 8,000 as the first prize, Rs. 6,000 for the second and Rs. 4,000 for the third. At the national level, the prize money is double that of the regional level. In addition, a large number of other prizes in cash and kind have been lined up for participants and the audience too. The competition will start at 1 p.m. with a written preliminary round at 11.30 a.m. The title sponsor for this year’s quiz is Extramarks.com. The associate sponsors are DC Books Mango, Vizag Steel Plant, Pepsico Cheetos and Kissan Amaze Brainfood.
The national sponsors are State Bank of Travancore, Firefox Bikes, Lotte Caramilk, G.M. Pens Reynolds, Penguin, Cycle Pure Agarbathies and Encyclopedia Britannica.
