Police Started Investigations On ICICI Case

The city police is hopeful of booking the people behind spreading false rumours about ICICI Bank. “We have taken the ICICI compliant seriously and started investigations,” said commissioner of police, Coimbatore, K C Mahali here on Monday. He added that the police would fix the accused within 24-hours. Mr Mahali told ET that ICICI Bank had filed a compliant with him on Sunday night against an anonymous person, who was instrumental in number of SMS's doing rounds in the country, spreading malicious information about the bank and the its financial position.

“The compliant statement said that some anonymous person has been sending emails and SMS's to lot of people stating that ICICI Bank had cheated the depositors and that the depositors should withdraw the amount from the bank immediately,” disclosed Mr Mahali. Race Course police inspector Mr Soundararajan is handling the case. When contacted, Jayachandran Nair, AGM, ICICI Bank, Coimbatore told that since more than 20 to 25 SMS's are floating around the country with malicious content on ICICI Bank the bank had decided to file a police complaint.
