Youths To Clean Up Bus Stands

The volunteers of Youth Helping Hands (YHH), a network of young people working for the welfare of orphaned children in Coimbatore, plan to clean up Gandhipuram and Ukkadam bus stands. “The bus stands are extremely dirty and the passengers waiting to board the bus cannot even sit on the chairs provided there,” says Arun, founder member of Youth Helping Hands.

The volunteers will also distribute pamphlets and put up placards inside and outside the bus stations with messages to keep the surroundings clean. “The volunteers will also talk to the general public about not littering the surroundings,” Arun says. People are not aware of the need to keep public places clean. They spit even inside the bus stands and scatter leftover food all over the floor, Arun observes. The volunteers plan to wash the floor of the bus stands and clean the seating arrangements.
