Efforts To Regularise Farm Workers Of TNAU
Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam has said that efforts have already been initiated to regularise farm workers of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). Mr. Arumugam said in a statement that 1,193 farm workers who had been working with the TNAU for more than two decades had been demanding job permanency. The same was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister.
The Government had already sought a report from the Registrar on the service particulars of the farm workers. It was under examination. Under such circumstances, “it was unfortunate and highly condemnable that a section of the farm workers have been resorting to agitations.” The Government on assuming office had accorded priority to ensure job permanency. In the Agricultural Department 92 temporary watchmen and in the Horticulture Department 1,083 workers had been regularised. Even vacant posts were being filled, the statement added.
