The government has brought 1,193 casual labourers of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University under regular time scale pay. Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam has announced on the floor of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on April 4, 2008, that farm workers who had been working with the TNAU for more than two decades would be made permanent. The university has issued orders for the regularisation of the workers, effective from April 1, 2008.
