Moon Leader @ Coimbatore, Another Abdual Kalam ???

Project Director of Chandrayaan-1, M.Annadurai (third right), inaugurating the Scholastic Abilities Improvement and Learning Laboratory at Geethanjalee Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Coimbatore. School Correspondent M. Alagirisamy (first from right), is in the picture. Nothing is impossible as long as we pursue our dreams,” M. Annadurai, Project Director of Chandrayaan-I, India’s first mission to the moon, said here recently.

Inaugurating the Scholastic Abilities Improvement and Learning Laboratory (a centre for slow learners) at the Geethanjalee Matriculation Higher Secondary School, he said: “Enjoying whatever you do is the inspiring factor in achieving your goals.” Mr.Annadurai urged the children to see life beyond the ordinary. Education had become more competitive, he observed. The competition required students to set high standards for themselves.

Interacting with the students, he admitted that he never nurtured dreams of becoming a scientist in his childhood. He was a good student and he aimed at topping the school. It was only after he started working among scientists that his own predilection for scientific excellence took wings, he said. Students asked him questions, which he answered gracefully.

The centre for slow learners would be run in association with Lead Learning, an organisation that trains dyslexic students. At the laboratory, the students would be tested for their strengths and weaknesses in terms of language. It would offer remedial measures for each student based on his or her need. The laboratory facilitator would monitor each student’s progress through a detailed reporting system, which would be shared with the parents. Mr. Annadurai’s wife, Vasanthi Annadurai and Principal of the School, Bernadette Ravikumar took part.
