An entrepreneur has the skill to create something out of nothing, A.V. Varadarajan, chairman of Sandfits Foundries, said here on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) “Southern Chronicles – II”, a meeting on entrepreneurship, he said that development of entrepreneurship should focus on quality. Not every businessman is an entrepreneur, he observed. Further, “It is our duty to see all round development in this country,” he said. Sharing his views and experience as an entrepreneur, Prasad Koneru, Managing Director of Rakindo Developers, said establishing relationship was important in business.
Entrepreneurs should have social responsibility in any project they take up, he observed in his address. Rakindo had acquired land and started work for an integrated township project here. It would have an Information Technology Park, healthcare and hospitality sectors. Several opportunities were available for entrepreneurs. “Wait for the right opportunity and take up one for which you can commit,” he said. It was essential to have commitment for the work taken up.

P.S. Saminathan, chairman and managing director of Pyramid Saimira Group urged aspiring entrepreneurs to have experience in business before becoming an entrepreneur. This would help in protecting oneself even if there was a failure. It was also essential to be transparent in business, especially with stakeholders. The vision and success of any entrepreneur was shared by all the stakeholders, he said. CN Ashok, chairman of the CII, Coimbatore Zone, said the organisation had several programmes to promote entrepreneurship. It was also working with entrepreneurship cells in colleges.
