Young World Painting Competition Date Extended

The last date for receiving the entries for The Hindu Young World Painting Competition 2008 has been extended to November 13. The competition will be conducted on November 30 in Coimbatore. From the entries received, 200 will be short-listed for the junior category and 200 for the senior category. All those selected for the finals will be sent individual letters containing details about the venue and time of the competition.

The topics for the preliminary round for the junior category are: ‘Sports day,’ ‘In the zoo,’ ‘Flying kites,’ ‘Birthday party.’ For the senior category: ‘Watching a stage play,’ ‘On a hill station,’ ‘Bandh/strike day,’ and ‘Environment day.’

The national sponsor of the competition is Lotte Booproo. Students (both juniors – from Standard IV to VII and seniors – from Standard VIII to X) can send the entries to The Regional General Manager, The Hindu, 19 & 20, A.T.T. Colony, L.I.C. Road, Coimbatore – 641 018. This year the painting contest will be conducted at 14 centres. On November 29 it will be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. In Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, New Delhi, Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Madurai and Tiruchirapalli, it will be held on November 30.
