INTUC Apeal To Govt
The State branch of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has appealed to the State Government to ensure that the minimum wages fixed for apprentices was implemented in the textile mills. The State president of the union P. L. Subbaiah has said in a release that apprentices were only a category of workers in textile mills. The Government should fix minimum wages for all categories of workers such as casuals, badlis, permanent and temporary workers. Mr. Subbaiah said that in Karnataka minimum wages were paid to textile workers irrespective of their classification. The wages were according to the work done. Tamil Nadu should also announce a similar scheme.
