K.N. Nehru Will Flag Off 100 New Buses In Coimbatore

Transport Minister, K.N. Nehru will flag off 100 new buses in Coimbatore city on Monday, of which, 78 buses would be replacing the existing fleet while 22 would be buses on new routes. This was told to presspersons by Managing Director of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Coimbatore, Division 1, S. Boopathy and Deputy Transport Commissioner, T. Gunasekaran. General Manager of TNSTC, S. Mani said that of the 22 new buses for town service routes, seven would be semi low floor buses, five would be vestibule buses and there would be 10 express town buses.


Vestibule buses have been chosen for easing congestion on crowded routes. Seventy-eight old buses would be replaced with new ones. Semi-low floor buses were being introduced on the Marudhamalai – Eachanari, Ukkadam – Avarampalayam, Ukkadam – Gandhipuram, Sivananda Colony – Sivananda Colony, Gandhipark and Ukkadam – Somanur routes.



Vestibule buses were being introduced on the Gandhipuram – Somanur, Ukkadam – Somanur, Gandhipuram – Karamadai, Gandhipuram – Annur, Ukkadam – Sulur Aero routes. Town express buses were being introduced on Marudhamalai – Chinniampalayam, Avaramapalayam – Malumichampatti, Gandhipuram – Kovanur, Perur – Polytechnic, Gandhipuram – Saravanampatti – Vellakinaru – Gandhipuram, Gandhipuram – SITRA – Kalpatti – Gandhipuram, Gandhipuram – Saravanampatti – Vilankurichi – Gandhipuram, Gandhipuram – Kuniamuthur – Kovaipudur- Perur – Gandhipuram, Railway Station – Thadagam and Gandhipuram – Gandhipuram routes. The new buses would be flagged off at the Regional Transport Office premises on Dr. Balasundaram Road. Rural Industries and Animal Husbandry Minister, Pongalur N. Palanisamy, Transport Commissioner, S. Machendranathan and District Collector, V. Palanikumar.
