BuildMat 2009 - Construction Fair
BuildMat 2009, a construction fair, will be held at Vijaya Fair Grounds here from January 23 to 26. Representatives of the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India), Builders’ Association of India and the Indian Institute of Architects, who are organising the event, told on Saturday that the fair would have about 350 participants and the products on display would include several national brands. Apart from construction materials, equipment and machinery, stalls would be dedicated to explain the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. Artisans and sculptors would demonstrate their skills and how products such as tiles were made.
Though a lot of new products were available in the market, consumers in Coimbatore had to go to Bangalore or Chennai to have a look at these before selecting for their house. The objective of the event was to bring a wider range of products to the Coimbatore market. Similarly, consumers need to know about some products that were now locally available. This included water treatment plants and energy efficient materials.
Bankers, property developers, furniture manufacturers, non-Governmental organisations would also participate. Some of the building material manufacturers would see the response at the fair to launch their services here. Apart from the exhibition, visitors could avail themselves of one-to-one counselling regarding construction. However, this would only mean providing guidance and clarifying doubts regarding construction, planning and architecture, the organisers said. Three seminars would be held for professionals in the sector on: urban infrastructure, mechanisation in the construction industry and energy conservation in buildings.
Those involved in the construction sector from the nearby places would also participate in these seminars. Painting competition for children and quiz contest for college students would also be organised. S.S. Palanimanickam, Union Minister of State for Finance, will inaugurate the fair. P.R Ramasubrahmaneya Rajah, chairman of the Ramco Group of Companies, will be the chief guest. Pongalur N. Palanisamy, Rural Industries Minister, and B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman of Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, will be guests of honour.
