Raids Conducted:
Health officials of the Coimbatore Corporation carried out surprise checks at shops on D.B. Road and Oppanakara Street as part of the civic body’s crackdown on plastic carry bags and other items measuring below 20 microns. Assistant City Health Officer R. Sumathi said Rs. 5,800 was collected as fines from shops found using the banned items.

International Conference:
Kongu Nadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, and All India National Research Club is organising an international conference on “A Multi-Dimensional Approach to Kavidasan’s Works” on January 25. Chairman of Bharathia Vidya Bhavan, B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar will inaugurate the meet.

Pirated CDs Seized:
The sleuths of the Video Piracy Cell on Friday conducted a drive against video piracy . They arrested 15 persons and seized over 4,500 CDs and DVDs of latest Tamil films besides pornographic films at various places in the district.

Medical Camp:
Friends of Police- Coimbatore City in association with NG Hospital will organise a general medical check-up, diabetes, dermatological, paediatric and maternal care camp at NG Hospital near Singanallur police station on January 25 from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
