Demand For Tea Was Good At Tea Trade Association

The demand for tea was good at the first auction of the year 2009 at Coimbatore tea trade association last week. The good liquoring and good mediums in CTC leaf category sold Rs 1 to Rs 2 per kg more than previous week. The medium and plainer varieties too met with good demand and sold firm to dearer by Rs 2 per kg compared to previous week and sometime more on competition. Blacker and cleaner teas sold Rs 2 to Rs 3 per kg more than previous week.

In the CTC dust segment, popular mark and good liquoring teas sold firm to dearer by Rs 1 to Rs 2 per kg compared to previous week. Medium and plainer varieties were fully firm to irregularly dearer particularly on competition. The high grown and well made orthodox leaf teas sold dearer by Rs 1 to Rs 2 per kg when compared to previous week. Medium varieties sold at irregular levels. The orthodox dust teas too sold at irregular levels following quality. The buying pattern was similar in CTC segment, with HUL lending good support for both leaf and dust teas.
