The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Coimbatore Range, P. Sivanandi, handed over Rs. 1,000 as reward to Constable Loganathan in appreciation of his sincerity in seizing 60 bags of PDS rice that was being illegally taken to in a mini lorry. Loganathan, a Grade-I constable attached to Vadakkipalayam Police Station in Pollachi was on duty at the Naduppuni checkpost on Friday. He noticed a mini van approaching the check post and on seeing police, the driver tried to change direction. The constable chased the vehicle on his motorcycle for more than 1 km. The mini lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and ran away.
