Amman Kulam Residents Seeks Patta

Residents of Amman Kulam affixing their signature on a petition seeking pattas, in front of the Collectorate in the city on Monday. Residents of Amman Kulam North and South, near Puliakulam, thronged the Collectorate on Monday seeking house site pattas. Though the administration has stopped conducting mass contact programmes or grievances day meetings on every Monday in compliance with the Election Commission’s model code of conduct, the residents went to the Collectorate with a petition.

The residents contended that they were living in the area for more than 35 years and most of them were coolie workers. The area was acquired by the Slum Clearance Board and after a survey, it had fixed price for the land and the dwellers had also paid the same in instalments. Suddenly, the Board had slapped a revised cost and asked the residents to pay more, if at all they wanted pattas. The residents wanted the amount paid by them so far to be regularised and pattas issued at the earliest.
