Agri Science Congress at TNAU Coimbatore
To discuss science for food, livelihood security and rural prosperity
Coimbatore: The Eighth Agricultural Science Congress 2007 will be held at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University from February 15 to 17.
Coimbatore: The Eighth Agricultural Science Congress 2007 will be held at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University from February 15 to 17.
Theme: With the theme `Science for Food, Livelihood Security and Rural Prosperity', the programme would be organised jointly by the university and the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, in order to discuss the advances in the field of agriculture and related areas.
Participation: A release from the university said that students, agricultural scientists, representatives from non-governmental organisations, agro-industrialists and farmers were expected to participate.
In addition, officials from the Central and State Government Departments were also expected to attend the proceedings.
Governor Surjit Singh Barnala would inaugurate the Congress. Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Sobodh Kant Sahai, Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development, D. Purandareswari, State Minister for Agriculture Veerapandi S. Arumugam, State Minister for Forestry, N. Selvaraj and State Minister for Rural Industries, Pongalur N. Palanisamy, would be present.
During the Congress, a concurrent `Youth Agricultural Science Congress' and a session on the `Role of Panchayat Raj Leaders in the Implementation of the Recommendations of National Commission on Farmers' would also be held.
Exhibition: A theme-based exhibition that will be open to the public would form part of the Congress.
