Tirupur also plan 12-hour bandh on 23 Feb

Now it is the turn of Tirupur.
Coimbatore: Requesting Railway Minister Lalu Prasad not to reconsider the boundary for Palakkad and the newly proposed Salem division, Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) has planned to observe a dawn-to-dusk bandh on February 23.

In a letter to Lalu Prasad, TEA said that people of Tirupur were "shocked and surprised" over his statement that Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Kerala should meet to decide the boundary for the divisions.

"We wonder why the minister has made such a statement when the boundary of Salem railway division had already been approved by the Ministry of Railways," TEA president A Shaktivel sought to know in the letter.

Tirupur, the knitwear hub of India, is currently providing direct and indirect employment to more than five lakh people and thousands of people are daily commuting by train to Tirupur town, he said.

A 12-hour bandh is being called from 6 a.m. on February 23 in the Tirupur region, Shaktivel said.
