Bharathiar University creating database on pulp and paper making properties
Coimbatore,March 9: The UGC (University Grand Commission) has sanctioned Rs.One lakh to the department of bioinformatics, Bharathiar University,Coimbatore for creation of database on pulp and paper making properties of fast growing plantation wood species.Accordingly, the department would carry out survey and collect literature related to selected species of plantations and develop a database, a university release said today.The proposed database was mainly intended to provide information to scholars, pulp and paper industries and forest officials,tree plantation planners, who were interested in pulping and paper making characteristics of species considered for planting, Dr P Shanmughavel of the department, also the principal investigator of the project, said.
