Coimbatore will not have land to live-MLA Claimed

'Land prices rising due to purchases by foreign investors'

Chennai:A Congress MLA today claimed that land prices in major cities in Tamil Nadu were rising due to purchases by foreign investors and sought immediate action to stop this trend.The MLA, Peter Alphonse said middle and lower classes would be most affected by it.Participating in the discussion on the state budget in the asembly, he said land prices in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai were shooting up alarmingly, making it difficult for the lower middle income class to even think of purchasing land for houses.He alleged that investors from USA, Australia and rich people from Gujarat were purchasing land in Chennai and Coimbatore, solely as a means of investment."If this trend is allowed, people in Tamil Nadu will not have land to live and all the lands in major metroplitan cities will go to foreign hands. The future of people in Tamil Nadu is at stake," he said.
