1st in Coimbatore for selling handloom products with a label
The Union Minister of State for Textiles, E.V.K.S. Elangovan, released saris with `handloom mark' at PSR & Sons showroom here on Saturday. He handed over the sale registration certificate of `handloom mark' to P.S. Rangasami, Chairman of PSR & Sons.The showroom is the first in Coimbatore to start the sale of handloom products with a label.It will be followed by Chennai Silks, said S.Periyasamy, Deputy Director of Textiles Committee.The handloom mark would provide a collective identity to the handloom products and could be used to popularise the hand woven material. It would also give an assurance to customers regarding quality of the product, he added.The cost of each handloom mark label was 0.60 paise.
