Bharat Nirman campaign will starts on 5-Apr

To make the general public aware of various welfare schemes of the Central and state governments, the 14th edition of the Bharat Nirman public information campaign would be launched Coimbatore from April 5.


The five-day campaign would focus on schemes such as Bharat Nirman, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, National Rural Health Mission, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and also Right To Information Act and other pioneering welfare schemes of the UPA government


The general public would be provided basic information on the schemes, like how to apply for right to information, how to avail loans from banks, Jayaraj, Deputy Director General, Press Information Bureau, Chennai, told reporters here today. As part of the campaign, to be inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Rural Industries Minister, Pongalur N Palanisamy, PIB and Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity are jointly organising an exhibition, in which various Central and state government departments, PSUs, NGOs and SHGs are showcasing their products and services in nearly 85 stalls, he said.



Besides this, an intensive grass-root level information dissemination campaign at 30 villages in and around Coimbatore district, with directorate of field publicity mounting the rural campaign employing multi-media methods. Union ministers, R Velu, K Venkatapathy, Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan and state ministers Parithi Ilamvazhuthi, M P Swaminathan, Dr Poongothai and Tamilarasi would participate in the campaign, Jayaraj said.
