BSNL bill can be paid through credit card
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Coimbatore, has launched a facility to pay telephone bills through credit/debit cards at its select locations.Principal General Manager A. Shajahan, General Manager (Operations) T. Natarajan, Deputy General Manager (Finance) B. Mohandoss and Deputy General Manager of Mobile Service Operations Atul Kareliya announced this at a press conference here on Friday.The BSNL had tied up with ICICI Bank, which had provided the swiping machines on which both credit or debit cards could be swiped for payment of bills.Initially, the facility would be provided at the customer service centre near the PGM office, Central Telegraph Office, Coimbatore - 641 018 and at the customer service centres in Pollachi and Udumalpet. The facility would be expanded depending on the response.The customer service centre hitherto functioned at the PGM office had been shifted to the nearby AMM Building, 352, Mettupalayam Road. Basic phone booking facility had been extended to the customer service centre at Jeevan Complex, Cross Cut Road, Gandhipuram.Mr. Shajahan appealed to the prepaid cellular SIM cardholders to furnish their address proof at the nearest customer service centre along with the original for scrutiny. In the absence of address proof, the SIM cards would be deactivated as per the Government instructions, he said.
Computerised Meter Reading Announcement System facility was available to subscribers in all the telephone exchanges except the EWSD exchanges at Ganapathy and Tirupur and connected RSU exchanges. For current meter reading (phone usage) landline subscribers could access the service by dialling 19621 (English) and 19622 (Tamil).Under the single window, the customer could book bfone, broadband or value added facilities and work order would be issued immediately.The landline phone customers could register for e-alerts i.e., e-mail alert or SMS alert on their mobile phone bills, wherein the bill date, bill amount and pay-by-date would be sent immediately. The customers should register for the same by logging on to www.bsnl.in.
The BSNL had enrolled 100 direct selling agents who would visit the customers at their doorsteps for marketing the BSNL products. BSNL, Coimbatore, had won the first prize for the best stall at the Bharat Nirman Campaign info expo organised by the Government of India at VOC Park.The BSNL has introduced the facility to pay bills through credit or debit cards in Tirupur. M. Venaiah, Deputy General Manager of BSNL, Tirupur, on Friday launched the service at Tirupur main telephone exchange near Tirupur railway station. While mobile phone bills could be paid at the Central Telegraph Office, opposite railway station, landline users could pay their bills at the main exchange.
