Co-operative Bank Employees's strike

The members of the Coimbatore District Central Co-operative Bank Employees Union are planning to go on strike on or after May 1 if the union's demands were not met. According to a release from A. Gensan, General Secretary of the union, this was the decision of the special general body meeting of the union held here recently.The meeting discussed various issues including the management violating the 12(3) settlement (dtd Feb 26,1997) between the management and the employees union regarding fixation of pay scale.

Besides, it is not implementing GO RC 10851\CC 97-5 dtd July 31,1997 regarding revised pay scale from July 1,1994.It was alleged in the meeting that the management was withholding the retirement benefit to the employees on flimsy reasons and non-implementation of settlement clause regarding payment of half-yearly closing allowance, officiating and additional charge allowance, payment of Chief Manager allowance of Rs 700 per month to the managements officiating as chief manager.
