A Hollywood movie on Veerappan likely
Brigand Veerappan’s wife Muthulakshmi is claiming that the film producers and directors are making a beeline to her house, seeking her permission to make a movie on her late husband’s life. But she has declined the offers, except for one from the US. The interest of the Hollywood in making a movie on Veerappan’s life has been in the news in the last couple of days.Meanwhile, Muthu-lakshmi told on Friday that the team from the US had come two months ago. ‘‘They said they will go back home, discuss and get back to me,’’ she added. The team had approached her through a media here, she said.Muthulakshmi said she is interested in the idea of a Hollywood movie on her late husband as it would be a big-budget movie with a wider audience.Muthulakshmi said she is rejecting offers from Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada movies as it would be made on small budgets. Even the team, which made ‘‘Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi’’ approached her for the story,’’ she claimed. However, she had one condition to make the film. The film makers should portray only the ‘‘truth.’’(Here truth means only the side of the story which she has to say). She sounded agitated over several books portraying Veerappan as a person who had raped women.‘‘I have already obtained a stay from the High Court on making serials on my husband’s life. If somebody tries to make a film based on the stories available in such books, I will obtain a stay on that too,’’ she said.
