More Police into action in Coimbatore
As many as 136 Assistant Sub-Inspectors/Head Constables in the ministerial category were inducted into the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after three months of training at the Central Training College - 2 here.These included nine women candidates.College Principal and Deputy Inspector-General of Police, CRPF, George C. Francis was the chief guest at the attestation ceremony and passing-out parade.
Gurucharan Sharma of New Delhi and Puja Kumar of Noida (bordering New Delhi in Uttar Pradesh) emerged first and second respectively during training, a release from the college here has said.Surprise checks at key junctions on both days led to the booking of 116 persons for drunken driving. A sum of Rs.1.16 lakh was collected in fines for the offence. Besides, 1,963 users of various vehicles and drivers of 60 heavy vehicles were also booked for various types of traffic rules violations, including unwarranted use of horns and breaching speed limits in the city.
