Basic life support and advanced cardiac courses

The Salem-based Vinayaka Mission Hospital, in association with the American Heart Association (AHA), is planning to offer basic life support and advanced cardiac life support courses for doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and the general public.

Dr V.P. Chandrasekaran, Head of the Department of Accident and Emergency, said that the hospital, on becoming an AHA associate, would be accredited to conduct training programmes in (life-saving) first aid. It is currently trying to get AHA recognition for offering such training courses at the Regional Training Centre. The AHA is the authoritative global body in first aid and life support measures.
